Our History

Our History

Proud Past. Focused Future.

Stewart’s Federal Credit Union was founded in 1983 with a simple mission: to provide reliable, personalized financial services to the employees of Stewart’s Shops and their families. What began as a small, employee-focused credit union has grown into a trusted financial partner serving thousands of members across the Stewart’s Shops community.

From day one, we’ve believed in the power of people helping people. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, our goal has never been about profits—it’s about empowering our members to reach their goals, improve their financial wellness, and feel confident in their futures.

Milestones Along the Way:

1983:

Stewart’s FCU is officially chartered to serve Stewart’s Shops employees

1980s–1990s:

Growth in membership and services, including savings, loans, and checking

2000s–Today:

Expansion into digital services and financial education to serve members anytime, anywhere

Though a lot has changed since our founding, our values remain the same: integrity, service, and a deep commitment to our members’ success.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to evolve and grow, we’re still guided by the same cooperative spirit that inspired our beginning. We’re proud of our history—and even more excited for what’s to come.

Thank you for being part of our story.
